Heading north to Cairns

Arriving in Cairns it's hot and humid and we arrive at the Resort. It’s a big contrast to Sydney, now its heat and humidity and tropical plants. We walk into the town and end up on the “sea front” which has some similarities to Southend, lots of people walking, running, and when the tide is out its muddy, but just a little warmer!!!

I finally manage a run with Matthew which is the first one of the trip for me and some yoga although both meant I got very hot!

We decide to head to Kuranda which is a small town up in the hills and is about 32km on the train. The journey takes about 1.5hrs and goes through lots of tunnels and over viaducts and is an amazing bit of engineering. The town itself is one big tourist trap so we have a quick bite to eat and head out. We head back on the Skyrail which is a cable car across the tropical rainforest, just skimming across the tops of the trees, it really is a birds eye view of it. We have a quick stop at Barrons Falls which are amazing, see a HUGE golden orb spider in its web, then back to the hotel. After a few days rest we are ready for our next adventure.
