After Christmas...

Since Christmas Day we have been busy with the following:

Walking the Routeburn Track (well 14km round trip). The Routeburn Track is one of the Great Walks of New Zealand and starts just beyond Glenorchy and finishes at The Divide 32km later (203 days walk). If you want to walk to whole of the track you have to book yourself a bunk in the huts en route for your overnight accommodation. We decide that we will get a taster of the track and head to the first hut which is called the Routeburn Flats Hut. We cross lots of swingbridges just above the cascading river below us as it crashes over rocks. There is drizzle all day but the canopy offers some shelter and there is moss everywhere and truly incredible environment. It was a good walk but I was glad to get back to the hotel and have a soak in the bath!!

Matthew decided he wanted to have a canyoning experience so went off for a half day trip on his own! This involves getting dressed up in a wet suit, life jacket and helmet and jumping 8m off rocks into the water, zip wiring across the canyon, sliding down rocks, abseiling down waterfalls and generally having a good time. He thoroughly enjoyed it!!
