Days in Wanaka

We are now in Wanaka, which is a town of about 4,500 people and located on Lake Wanaka and surrounded by mountains. It is a beautiful place!

We got lucky and got a place overlooking the lake and a few minutes to walk to the shops. Yesterday we hired some mountain bikes and hit the track which runs along the lake and then up the Clutha river estuary on proper tracks with lots of up and down, twists and turns and it was great fun. We estimated we cycled about 30kms in total - we were pretty tired when we finished but it is brilliant and the scenery incredible.

Today we went to Puzzleworld, which was a rainy day option, but luckily the sun shone. There is a large maze which kept us busy for about 45 minutes and there are lots of illusions to look at and interact with and you can sit in the cafe and have a go at lots of puzzles - they are hard!!

Then we went off to Have a Shot, where we shot rifles at targets 20m away. Guess what...I beat Matthew - they say the girls are better at it than the boys!!

They I had a go at clay pigeon shooting - which was pretty hard, the shotgun is heavy with a bit of a kickback, but I did manage to get one!!

Then we went for a run around the lake so I think that is enough exercise for a few days!
