We start our final day in Brisbane with an early start and a drive north to the coast to Dickie's Beach and have our first venture in the surf. It was great fun jumping the waves but the currents were so strong it was a good job there were life guards patrolling!
After our quick dip we head to Australia Zoo - the home of the Crocodile Hunter. It was sad to think that Steve Irwin is no longer with us but he has left an amazing legacy of striving for the conservation of our wildlife and environment. We saw some incredible animals there, got to feed and hang out with the kangaroos, stroke the sleepy koalas, watch the crocs, marvel at the elephants, an eight month old wombat. We had a lovely day there.
Cute koala!
