Yesterday we spent the morning taking the City Cat up the Brisbane River from Bulimba in the east to the University (which is the furthest west you can go) and then back again. There was a lovely breeze to take the edge of the heat. We took in the sights, the Story Bridge which was designed by the John Bradfield (who also designed the Sydney Harbour Bridge). It is a cantilever bridge and was opened in 1940. It rises 77 metres above the river and is 777 metres long.
We took in the sights along the South Bank, the Brisbane wheel (like the London Eye but smaller and goes round quicker!), theatre and the lagoon pool. The large rocks called Kangaroo Rocks where you can rock climb. The lovely Customs House with its copper domed roof, which is squashed between modern, glass and metal structures.
We finish off the day with a trip to the cinema to see Red - which was really good! and it was in a lovely old cinema.
